DRHC Holds Employee Appreciation, Honors Years of Service
Deer River, MN (June 7, 2006)- Deer River HealthCare Center (DRHC) honored 33 employees for their 325 collective years of service at its annual celebration held June 7th.
Special recognition went to Krys Plate, Laboratory Medical Technologist, for 20 years of service, Jeanette Terhaar, Homestead Rehabilitation & Living Center Rehab Nursing Assistant, for 20 years of service, Sheri Erickson, Adult Day Stay, for 25 years of service, and Shirley Cook, Homestead Rehabilitation & Living Center Licensed Practical Nurse, for 30 years of service.
30-year employee Shirley Cook says her patients and team members make her job worthwhile.
"I like meeting and caring for people at Homestead," said Cook. "Working with older people is very enjoyable. I have seen a lot of good changes throughout the years and it's been very interesting to see our team change with it. I think we have a wonderful team and I think we always have."
"I like Homestead because it's so community oriented," stated 20-year employee Jeanette Terhaar. "My husband was in the service, so I have worked in many other jobs for larger health care facilities, but I have really enjoyed working at Homestead. It's the only place I have wanted to work for such a long time...I work with a great bunch of people."
Because the theme for this year's celebration was country western, the DRHC leadership team raffled numerous door prizes clad in cowboy hats and bandanas, and DRHC's Dietary Services staff prepared a meal of steak and salmon. Amy Lane-Myers, Director of Human Resources, expressed that this was the best employee event she had ever attended.
"Many people walk through our doors and are amazed at what we've accomplished in the last several years," stated Chief Executive Officer Jeffry Stampohar, as he addressed employees seated on picnic tables and stretched across picnic blankets in DRHC's sun-filled outdoor courtyard. "No one person can do this alone. We are doing this together."
Located on Comstock Drive in Deer River, DRHC employs over 200 health care professionals, providing comprehensive hospital, emergency and surgical services to a 50-mile radius.
"We are proud of our team members for their many years of dedicated service. We are especially proud that Deer River HealthCare Center offers a positive, supportive working environment that our team members want to be a part of," stated Stampohar. "Because our team members know they are valued, it reflects in the quality care they provide to our patients--everyone benefits."
