DRHC Introduces Meridian Medical Clinic to open in Grand Rapids
On Tuesday, November 20th, Deer River HealthCare Center's Chief Executive Officer, Jeffry Stampohar and the DRHC Board of Directors announced to their staff and providers that DRHC will open the Deer River Meridian Medical Clinic in the Lakewood Heights Professional Building in Grand Rapids, MN, on December 31, 2007.
"We are tremendously proud to announce Deer River Meridian Medical Clinic as the newest member of our Deer River HealthCare Center family," stated Chief Executive Officer, Jeffry Stampohar.
"Our mission is to give current and future patients of DRHC a convenient, new location in which to receive quality, compassionate primary care - and now, by teaming up with Lakewood, our patients have even more options than before."
According to Stampohar, the Deer River Meridian Medical Clinic setting will display a deeper alignment amongst its healthcare partners, Deer River HealthCare Center and, most importantly, its patients.
"As a Deer River Meridian Medical Clinic patient, you can choose which treatment specialist or surgeon you want to see and where you want to go for inpatient or outpatient care. We are confident that by establishing your trust and giving you the right tools to make healthcare decisions, you will be equipped to achieve optimal health," said Stampohar.
The Deer River Meridian Medical Clinic, which was named to reflect the vital energy of Itasca County and the relationships formed by DRHC's medical partners, will operate as a service of the Deer River HealthCare Center, a non-profit, community owned, 501 (c) 3 organization. The clinic is planning for 2 family practice providers with well-rounded expertise and 1 or 2 midlevel professionals, along with laboratory and diagnostic imaging services. Nancy Buescher, RN Case Manager and long-time resident of Itasca County, has been appointed as the Deer River Meridian Medical Clinic Nurse Manager.
"The Deer River HealthCare Center team and the atmosphere have a very warm feeling," Buescher described. "The new clinic will have that same community feeling. I think the smaller size of our clinic in Grand Rapids will help our patients get to know everyone involved with their care."
The Deer River Meridian Medical Clinic opening date of December 31st, 2007 is significant, as an estimated 20,000 Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Minnesota patients will be out of network starting January 1st, 2008.
Stampohar said, "We see the Blue Cross/Blue Shield contract issue as short-term. Our long-term focus is to foster a healthy community through preventive care, accurate diagnostics and supporting our patients' freedom to choose from the best treatment options available. We will accept all major insurance."
